Last week we cycled through it whilst two people were riding horses. Is this not the stuff of dreams? 🐎🐎
Now, a consultation is open about whether one road here should be closed to traffic during the week. Let’s talk you through it.
Here’s cycling over the Serpentine, on a road called “West Carriage Drive”.
What a view! This is the life!
(Locals will note we are accidentally in the horse-riding lane. Apologies to 🐴!)
But we think parks are for:🚶🏾♂️🚴🏻♀️🐎🌊⛵️
Along the South edge of Hyde Park is South Carriage drive.
We rode here mid-morning. As you can see the cycle lane is still busy, but at rush hour it’s thronging with people on cycles. To be frank, they need more than one lane …
Here’s a map of the three roads in the park. South Carriage Drive is the one currently being consulted on. Currently it is closed to motor traffic permanently on the weekends and temporarily during the week. Do you think it should be closed to traffic in the week permanently too?
This is some of the motor traffic we caught on West Carriage Drive. Is this how we want the roads in our parks to look? For one road, now you can have your say.
Here’s the consultation from the Royal Parks. They say here that there are particular concerns that the cycle lane on Park Lane intersects with South Carriage Drive. That junction could potentially be dangerous we think.
Please have your say in the consultation.
Finally, we just want to say that our first ever tweet was about cycling through Hyde Park. This is North Carriage Drive.
We believe parks are for people, and animals, not for motor traffic 🙌🏻
